Thank you for your help in supporting our efforts to receive a $50,000 gift from the Case Foundation.
The challenge is now over. While we fell short of our goal, we are so grateful to the 297 friends of the League who gave towards this unique opportunity.
Your gifts raised a total of $7,931, enough to print over 30,000 Gospels of John. It also appears that we qualified for a special $1,000 gift offered by the Case Foundation to the top 100 charities. Final audited numbers are not available yet, so we can't confirm that immediately, but it seems likely that our level of giving easily put us into the top 100.

Though we ended well short of the leaders, our 297 donations raised $7,931 which covers the basic printing costs for more than 30,000 Gospels of John.

Final status
The four leaders in the charity challenge each collected more than 2,000 donations since the challenge began in mid-December. We only learned about it on January 25, and still managed to collect 297 donations in less than six days.
The purpose of this charity challenge created by the Case Foundation and Parade Magazine seeks to learn which charity can collect the largest number of donations. "Philanthropy shouldn’t be defined as a bunch of rich people writing big checks," says Jean Case, who founded the Case Foundation with her husband, Steve, founder of America Online. "Small amounts of money given by large numbers of individuals can be combined to do great things."
About the League
All across the nation, every day of the year, thousands of League members bring the gift of God’s love to others in meaningful one-to-one encounters by giving away a Gospel of John. Nothing touches the heart so deeply as Scripture. From soup kitchens to corporate offices, people are sharing God's Word with those around them. The stories they share are amazing, and a great source of encouragement. Like this one from Michael W. of Summerville, SC:
I tucked our tip for the waitress into the Gospel of John and handed it to her. She opened and read it and started crying and the whole time thanking us for the Word. The Gospels speak for themselves you do not need to add a word to them. My wife and I will never know what was going on in that young lady's life at that time, but God's Holy Word was there, right on time.
